2016 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Rally Edition Packs Major Upgrades

Sports cars and hatchbacks are officially in. Among the likes of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ, the newest Hyundai Veloster Turbo Rally Edition stands tall with significant upgrades from its base model counterpart. Best of all, it’s both a sport car and hatchback to deliver the best of both worlds. It picks up where the Accent GT and Genesis Coupe left off.

The most noticeable difference to the Veloster Turbo Rally Edition is its matte blue paint, a special colour reserved specifically for this model. The matte paint is almost reflective and captures light in a unique way. Although this special paint requires delicate cleaning, its one-of-a-kind attraction is worth the effort.

Major aesthetic and performance upgrades can be found in this model. Large 18-inch wheels are designed for action by Rays Engineering of Japan. Hyundai states that each Rays wheel is five pounds lighter than the default Turbo wheels, which reduces unsprung suspension weight by 20 pounds. This allows the suspension to maintain better contact with the road.

While the original Veloster debuted with 132 horsepower, 1.6-litre, four-cylinder engine, the newest Veloster Turbo Rally Edition now has the power to match the look. This edition comes with 201 horsepower with 195 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is unique to the Hyundai line, as it’s the only one with direct fuel injection and intercooling.
